A two-channel video will provide the structure for the live performance. The video component will explore three central concerns: the idea of being in/of a specific place (situatedness), the formation of meaning, and the latent politics of poetry and art. The content of the videos will be developed from small performative gestures, such as reading or reciting poetry in a specific site, paired with more mundane actions observed from daily life. For example, I would like to observe small moments of frustration such as searching for the beginning of a roll of transparent cellophane tape. The tone is intended to shift from moments of earnestness to moments of wry humour or something slightly absurd.
